Deleted Scenes

The Learners Permit Scene

(Right after Dani screams when Max refuses to take her trick or treating,
before Max decides to go as a "rap singer")

EXT. BEHIND HOUSE - A FEW MINUTES LATER

Max and his father are fighting (with a beautiful view of Salem Harbor right behind them). Max skips stones angrily across the water.

A Call from Mother

(While Winnie's in the "devil's house, poking around in the supposed "torture chamber".)

Winifred snoops around the kitchen. There is a pot of water boiling on the stove. She plays with an egg beater, imagining that it has some evil purpose. Suddenly, the phone rings.

At first Winifred doesn't know where the noise is coming from, but, while looking around for its source, she picks up the receiver. A WOMAN'S VOICE is heard on the phone.

(cut to included scene of Mary eating Cheez Doodles infront of the TV)

Back in the kitchen the phone call goes on...

Winifred, furious, tosses the phone into the boiling pot of water... Winifred, catharsis complete, steps out of the kitchen and sees on the table... A SNAPSHOT of the Devil (out of make-up) and his wife on their last vacation. Things start to click for her.

A moment later the wife re-enters and sees... (scene goes on as featured in the movie)

Supermarket Scene

(After Sarah discovers how much fun it is to say amuck.)

Winifred huddles with Mary; they watch the Halloweeners.

Mary and Winnie do a little evil laugh duo.

THE FOLLOWING PROBABLY WITH MUSIC...

EXT. SUPERMARKET - A FEW MINUTES LATER

The witches approach a market, where the word "Market" is prominently displayed... They react as the doors slide open magically to admit them.

INT. THE SUPERMARKET - CONTINUOUS - ON THE WITCHES

as they take in the scene. The place is practically deserted. A HOUSEWIFE with her CHILD in the cart pushes past them... The witches get the concept.

A moment later Mary pushes a cart down the aisle... Sarah and Winnie lurk off on their own...
Mary spots a bottle of "Witch Hazel," takes a sniff, and then a slug.

Meanwhile, Sarah with a plastic shopping basket under her arm, skips down the aisle like Little Red Riding Hood.

Mary spots a shelf filled with canned babyfood with pictures of babies on them. She checks to make sure Winifred isn't watching her and stocks up. Then, the housewife and child pass. Mary and the woman exchange "we both have babies" smiles, but Mary decides to hell with the canned stuff. The housewife stops, takes a box of formula from the shelf. When she turns back, her cart has been replaced with one filled with meats.

She looks down the aisle and sees... Mary slurking away, with her child in her shopping cart.

The mother gives Mary an angry look and retrieves her shopping cart. A hand reaches out and twists the lobe of Mary's ear. It's Winifred. With Winifred supervising her, Mary moves down the aisle gathering ingredients for their candy... Bags of sugar... Packages of candy... Maple Syrup... Liquid shoe polish... A blue toilet drop in... Rawhide doggie chewsticks... Pepto Bismol...

Finally Winifred spots... a black bowled Weber barbecue grill (a special end of the season sale).

The CLERK, finishing a long night, has seen it all. Nothing fazes him.

Winifred and Mary have set up the Weber Grill and have started a fire under it. They're throwing things into it.

CLOSEUP ON BLOB as it sizzles up and forms into a CANDY CROW.

The Clerk spots smoke coming from the aisle.

(scene transists into the "cop" scene from here)

Handing out Candy Crows

(after Billy looses a few fingers)

EXT. PUMPKIN YARD - A MOMENT LATER

A truck passes REVEALING an empty lot where the last pumpkins of the night remain unsold. There is a canvas tent in the middle of the yard.

INT. THE TENT - CONTINUOUS

Our kids and Binx have taken refuge. Dani is crying.

This makes Dani SOB even louder.

Max and Allison swap a look. They have a problem. Max signals to let him take care of this, and crouches down next to Dani.

He turns her near to him.

He nods.

Dani almost laughs a little.

She looks up.

She nods.

Binx slinks up alongside her.

She pets him. Allison give Max a look of appreciation; he handled that well.

BACK ON DANI AND BINX - as she pets him and he purrs loudly.

Oh that feels good... Nod do my other ear... Yes... Oh, yes... Now my tummy... Yes... ON MAX AND ALLISON as they look out the flap of the tent see something that makes them take heart.

OUTSIDE THE TENT - CONTINUOUS

as Max and Allison (checking the sky) run out to greet CINDY and DONNA, a pair of twin sisters who are just passing by. Allison knows them.

They are sucking greedily on their candies.

But the girls hardly notice them, and don't even stop while they talk. They seem almost drugged.

They drop it as they walk on. The candy falls to the ground, where the kids and Binx examine it... They're candy crows.

EXT. A PARK - A MOMENT LATER

The witches, surrounded by greedy children, are giving out candy crows. The kids grab at the witches; they want those candies.

She shoves a piece in his mouth.

RAPID SHOTS OF KIDS popping the candy greedily in their mouths.

ON THE HILLSIDE ABOVE - Binx, Dani, Allison, and Max's heads peer around a tree, watching this scene.

A fifth head appears above theirs. It's Billy Butcher. As one, they all smell something terrible, and look up.

ON WINIFRED as she hears a group scream, looks up at the crest of the hill, and sees our kids running away.

A moment later the witches stand at the hilltop where the kids were a moment ago. Winifred confronts Billy.

Billy groans, his feelings hurt.

Mary puts her nose to the ground, picking up the kids' scent and following it like a bloodhound.

(scene transists into the kids crashing the Town Hall party)

The Pool Scene

(after the cut away from the Town Hall party)

EXT. ON A HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC FIELD - A LITTLE LATER

The witches follow the Kids' scent across the field toward the school, which looks ominous in the moonlight. They stand next to a sign that reads JACOBY BAILEY HIGH SCHOOL. Now this is a scary sight and the witches react that way.

Sarah points to several outdoor basketball hoops, looming up in the dark.

Mary and Sarah gulp and rub their necks. They are scared.

A moment later they approach a window, which has been smashed and opened.

Winifred and Mary share a look, then grab Sarah and shove her, shrieking, in.

INT. BOYS' LOCKER ROOM - A MOMENT LATER

The witches creep cautiously past lines of lockers.

Sarah gets excited. They open a locker.

Winifred's face appears between them. She grabs their ears and yanks them OFF CAMERA.

INT. WEIGHT ROOM - A MOMENT LATER

The witches enter and see weights and elaborate exercise equipment.

Mary clutches Winnie, who shoves her off.

INT. THE SWIMMING POOL - A MOMENT LATER

The three witches approach the edge of the water with trepidation.

Winifred leans over the edge, sticks her finger in the water, and tastes it.

Mary and Sarah swap an evil look. They just can't resist. They shove Winifred into the pool, then dance with glee as she thrashes around... But all laughter stops when they turn and see Winnie, soaking wet, standing at the edge of the pool, and glaring at them. They point at each other.

Winnie breaks into a "good natured" cackle, which Mary and Sarah eagerly take up. It gets bigger and bigger, until Winifred cracks their heads together.

She holds out her hands, which Mary and Sarah take, forming a circle (and a complete circuit).

RAPID SHOT OF THE OUTSIDE OF THE SCHOOL, as a massive jolt of electricity momentarily illuminates its insides.

BACK TO THE POOL - CONTINUOUS

Mary and Sarah are still smoldering from the jolt. Winifred feels better, and she's completely dry.

(scene transists into the scene where Max comes over the P.A. as "Boris Karloff Jr.")
